Family-clay workshops, sculptures and installations with children
Korppoo, Finland
Clay sculpture; 71 x 43 cm, clay, flowers, rocks
In the summer 2024, me and my sister, visual artist Juuli Kangasniemi, shared holiday life, sisterhood and motherhood, little clay workshops were held with the kids, spontaneous summer shows were put together and precious gifts of clay were given to the island.
Through this work we were interested in what kind of spiritual and artistic habits mothers, or other parents, pass on and teach their children, and what kind of habits we create together and communally with our children.
Our aim was to explore how artistic work and motherhood intertwine, the challenges and opportunities this combination brings, and how the presence of family and nature influence the process.
